My fear

What is our body made up? A huge variety of chamical elements each contributing to our well-under-control functioning as a organic entity. Elements such as uranium that are rare in nature can be found in our body. If we separate each of these elements, we will get one iron-nail, three common matches and lots more handy stuff like a calculator. Do a quick check on the Net to confirm my claimings, if you like.

More often than not, there are things more than physical compostion to our body. Chrisma, intelligence, memory and experience also make us who we are. It's these qualities aon a metaphysical level that make people like us and help us be strong.

This morning, I woke up thinking what if I had to spend the rest of my life on a motorized chair like lots of handicapped people do. I got this funny feeling that that "sam" (in I AM SAM) was in me. The feeling didn't come so strong until I looked my self in the mirror--- Who am I? What have I been doing all these years? What's the meaning of life? Sounds like a deliquent juvenile, aye?

Seriously, I am daunted by the idea that I could become a handcapped person from now on. Murphy's law says If something could happen, it will. What will I do if the idea materializes tomorrow? WIll I still be myself, regardless of my physical changes? Or will it be hard to accept as truth?

Just last week, Beyond Tomorrow (TV programme) reported a new technology enabling disabled people in US to control over computer by mind. There was this man not being to move his body parts under neck. He tried so hard to get a grasp of the technology that he had all this sweat over his forehead. I felt bad about him.

A nude body is a beautiful piece of art work. What if it is incomplete, say, one that has arms without elbows? Do your eyes still like it? I wishfully expect that's an emphatic YES that I hear.

The power of mind can never be underestimated. However, like everything, there's a limit. Beyond this limit is the fear without limit.

Thought of School

How many of you have dozed off in the face of some asshole teacher in school? I didn't except once in the physics lab. Lucky that nothing caught fire because of my 'wandering off' into the wilderness.

Now call all the smart people you know. Ask them how much they liked school. Most of the time, this this is goann be a boring survey. Hawthorne effect!

Let's face this. Nobody likes school or nobody likes school consistently. My statement is not groundless at all. Most of people, for instance, here at ANU college(that's Australian National University College to you) want nothing but getting access to their dream university from the taking they are currently taking. These stuents come from a variety of backgrounds, china, japan, korea, ocania countries(excluding aus) etc etc. They represent the opinions of students from these countries. the reason most people stick to their school life, though always unwillingly, because they take studying when you are young as a social norm. they go to lectures and take instructions only because this is something they have to do. no second alternative. we are not supposed to behave erractically because we take social norms as granted since the day when we were born. Fair enough!

Don't get my message wrong. I am not aruging in favor of social deviants out there. I am just trying to tell social courtesy is not synonymous with the word "compromise". Is there something wrong with the word "comprosise"?
